Philadelphia Woodworks is seeking skilled and experienced woodworkers to staff our state-of-the-art, professional grade woodshop and/or teach fine woodworking classes. We are looking to hire full-time and part-time employees and interns, for days, nights and weekend shifts.  We are looking for individuals who are outgoing, energetic, enthusiastic team players, who take pride in their work.  Applicants must have excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex woodworking concepts and techniques.  Please review our Expectations and Requirements to see if a position at Philadelphia Woodworks is right for you!

For prospective employees

Expected job tasks and requirements:

-Monitoring of shop users to ensure safest and best use of all machinery and tools

-Routine maintenance and up-keep of machines and tools

-Building and maintaining jigs, workbenches, etc.

-General office and administrative tasks and functions

-Professional conduct and attitude at all times

Application requirements

-Clear and concise evidence of past work, accomplishments and skills (resume, portfolio, website, work samples, etc.)

-Dependable schedule and transportation (either a car or access to bus or train servicing the shop)

-Stellar references from past supervisors

-Prior experience in monitoring a woodshop or teaching of fine woodworking highly sought

For Prospective Interns

We are in need of seasonal interns in our shop and administration, and we are open to have you see where you may contribute in other ways. Refer to descriptions

Business and Marketing: Intern will be involved in multiple facets of our business and get hands-on experience in Marketing, Business Management and Social Media Coordination within Philadelphia Woodworks. Duties will include participation in our Retail and Membership sales and marketing, Inventory control and management, our Online and Physical Marketing Campaign, and maintaining Social Media presence.

Shop Intern: Intern will be involved with routine shop upkeep and facility maintenance. Assist shop monitors in stocking supplies and inventory management, sales/retailing skills. Intern will be trained with the skills needed to work with shop monitors, for example we see it as their responsibility to learn how to use the jigs to be able to assist members. Will be a resource for members about tools in the shop and be able to direct questions. Duties may overlap with general business administration, so you can gain a well-rounded experience of shop management and member relations.
