OUR SHOP = YOUR FUN: THE PHILADELPHIA WOODWORKS VIRTUAL EXPERIENCE!

How to Get Started:

We’d love to talk with you to help you decide what plan is best for you. Reach out to us however is best for you.  And very important to know — neither membership nor safety certification are needed to enjoy our woodshop classes or private instruction lessons!

New Member Safety Certification:

The safety of our members is our No. 1 priority and will never be compromised. All open-access members, regardless of experience, must undergo our safety certification program before accessing the shop. (It’s not only the safe and smart policy, it’s the policy of our insurer).  Safety Certification is a two-part process, sometimes run in one full day, sometimes broken up between two weekday evenings.  Safety Certification is NOT required for either our woodshop classes or private instruction lessons as our pros are overseeing these participants at all times.

  • Upcoming New Member General Safety Class(es):
    • Sat May 4, 10a-6p

Call us to reserve your spot! (267-331-5880) Want to start even sooner? Just give us a call and we’ll see what we can do!

Rescheduling: Allowable only 14 or more days before the start of your first scheduled new member safety class. See our full Reservation and Rescheduling Policy <here>.

Considerations:

Before joining our shop for membership, please be aware that we have a series of policies in place to ensure that we can operate sustainably with many users all enjoying one shop together.  All new members are presented these policies in our Member Manual as well as in our new member safety and orientation classes.  Several policies that we want all prospective members to take into consideration before joining for membership are:

  • Expert instruction is not complimentary with membership dues.  While our staff is happy to answer safety questions whenever free, guidance on woodworking techniques, project planning, etc. from our pros is part of our Private Instruction service for a fee.
  • We have certain materials restrictions and materials prohibitions in place to keep members, staff and the tools healthy. See our full list <here>.
  • Members are welcome to store materials and projects at PW while working on a project, but storage is not free, even for the smallest items.  Storage of items at PW starts at $0.50/day.
  • We have a 3.5% pass-through processing fee on certain credit card transactions including private lessons, lumber, sheet goods and storage fees.  We do not have processing fees for cash, check or Venmo payments. Membership dues and regular price class enrollments paid by credit card do not have this fee.
