Duration: 3.5 hours

Class Description: There’s something especially satisfying about creating a beautiful wooden box with a perfectly fitted lid entirely on the lathe! In this fun and engaging class you’ll learn the fundamentals of spindle turning while creating a one-of-a-kind hardwood lidded box that is both functional and beautiful. From wood selection and grain orientation to hollowing techniques, lid fitting and final finishing, you’ll learn the essential skills and techniques that go into making these elegant turned containers.

Throughout the class we focus heavily on safety, proper tool usage and turning technique, and in the intimate setting of a small class you’ll receive plenty of individual attention and guidance. By the end of the session you’ll leave with a completed hardwood lidded box that’s perfect for storing jewelry, keepsakes or other small treasures — and the skills and confidence to continue exploring the exciting world of woodturning!
