Women Only: A Full Woodshop Introduction!

Class Description:  Whoever says woodshops are just for guys has never been to Philadelphia Woodworks! A Full Woodshop Intro for Women Only is a fun, welcoming, full-day introduction to a professional-grade woodshop. With guidance from our experienced instructors, you’ll learn to use an impressive range of tools while creating several beautiful projects to enjoy at home!

Morning – Build a Mahogany Cutting Board: Starting with rough lumber, you’ll create a gorgeous premium hardwood cutting board from scratch using the jointer, planer, table saw, router table and sanders. With more time than our traditional cutting board classes, we’ll dive deeper into the process and build your confidence with the tools.

Afternoon – Discover the Fun of Woodturning:  For the afternoon we switch gears and head to the lathe! Experience the fun and incredibly satisfying art of shaping spinning wood into beautiful projects such as flower vases and candlesticks!

Absolutely no experience necessary! Come on your own, bring a friend, or make it a mother-daughter bonding day. It’s a great opportunity to learn new skills, meet like-minded women, and enjoy a seriously fun day in the woodshop!

Important Notes:

  • A portion of this class has significant overlap with the our 3-hr premium hardwood cutting board class.  We recommend that participants not take that class ahead of this course.
  • Depending on our staffing availability at the time, the instructor for this class may be male or female.
