Skill Level:  Beginner to Intermediate

Class Duration: Two Saturdays (10a-6p both days)

Class Description:  The staked chair (named for how the legs join into the seat) is the perfect blend of traditional chair construction and modern form. With legs at compound angles, and a comfortable curved backrest, this chair challenges students to think outside of the straight and square box and work toward something that conforms to the human body. Beyond traditional wood milling and table saw techniques, this two day class experience also includes bent lamination, compound angle drilling and an introduction to turning spindle tenons on the lathe!

Cost: $449 tuition + materials (see below)

  • Credit cards (including online enrollments) have a 3.5% pass-through processing fee.

  • Base Materials Kit: $199 + tax and includes materials in RED OAK or CHERRY
  • Ash Upgrade: +$69 + tax
  • Walnut Upgrade: +$129 + tax

Please Note: At the end of this course you will have an assembled project ready for you to touch-up sand and finish on your own at home however you like. In class we will give you direction for several different finishing methods. We also have a wonderful finishing outline to help guide you after class. Lastly, we can refer you to a reasonably priced professional finisher who can spray finish your project!
